John, It is my suspicion that after things cool down a bit from this group buy that we will likely run a second round for people that missed the first. I would expect that this would be probably 3 to 6 months from now but again, that is just speculation on my part. Otherwise your best bet would be to post a WTB thread here and at Head-Fi and see if someone could sell you an extra or two. |

For those of you who haven't read my post on the Head-Fi GB thread: I got an update from Colin on the 13th and the boards have been ordered. Delivery is expected mid-to-late July timeframe (it's a big order!). You will have to grant Colin an amount of time beyond that to get them shipped to everyone - perhaps a couple of weeks as Nate as suggested in another post. One day, someone will have to invent a method that will allow a team of people to work on a record-setting Group Buy. Colin is all by himself in doing this, so please continue to be patient. I believe he's going to try to update the list, but he got a lot of e-mail/Paypal addresses that did not include forum usernames. So, he's going to have a tough time cross-referencing the list. However, if you were invoiced and you paid, then you'll get your boards - the forum usernames have nothing to do with that. BTW, I just checked and DigiKey is still tracking to get more Panasonic 1000uF, 50V caps by 7/17. So hopefully, they will have plenty of caps by the time everyone gets their boards. Of course, the Panasonic FC caps or the Nichicon UPW's are perfectly acceptable. P.S. Blooze - I am sure Colin ordered quite a few extra. Availability will be unpredictable, though, and he may handle them on a case by case basis. Your best bet is to e-mail Colin and see what he can do. Also, I am still working on some updates to the website, and most recently added scale, dimensioned drawings and templates for the casework (under the "Construction" menu selection). Some notes were recently added for the BOM, too: [Edited by tomb on 06-16-2007 at 09:04 AM.] |

I sent an email to Colin and hopefully he'll have at least one left over ![]() At least I have a few tubes left from the last one. They may start being hard to get with all these amps being built. Or they'll go the way of the 1626's and go from $2ea to $12ea. |

If there are no spare boards, is there a mailing list or something that can notify people when the next group buy is starting? |

Guys, we really should keep this thread limited to the Group Buy and info about that. The DIY section is the best place to ask questions about the design and build. That said - if you check the "Tweaks - Tube Lights" section of the http://www.diyforums.org/MAX, you'll find a description of how to take apart the sockets and what glue I used - 15min epoxy. I use a round toothpick to smear the epoxy on the ceramic between the pins, and hold the assembly together with rubber bands until cured. 5min epoxy is a little too fast to get all that done before it cures. Other glues don't have enough substance. CA gels may work OK, but thinner stuff will not. Stay away from expanding glues like Gorilla Glue. |

Thanks for the update. Within the last week I've received five NOS 12AE6A tubes, five NOS 12FM6A tubes, and the parts for assembling two MOSFET boards. (These are for a friend in the UK and I.) I've got a bunch of other electronics projects going now, so that time works great for me. If they were to arrive around the end of July, I'd imagine things will be in great shape. Now I just need to design the enclosure. -Steve |
