I've temporarily disabled title text content in the thread listings. This feature is slowing down the forums. I've figured out a way to speed up the title text routine, but before I spend the time, I have to ask: will anyone really miss this feature if I don't restore it?

I never use it myself. I also notice that some other sites including hdfi that once had title text now don't support it.

I won't miss it but I think the "hot forum topics" thing should be moved to the "front page" ( http://headwize.com/ubb/forums.php ). It seems a little redundant where it is now. <wink>

It is redundant at this moment b/c it only lists DIY forum posts. However, if someone posts in one of the other forums, that thread will be listed as well. I added the Hot Topics box so people could see if anything was going on in the other forums, which are less visited than this one.

No, it's redundant because you have icons to indicate new posts.
Do you really need to "jam" links to those same threads right in everybodys face to make them realize that? <wink>

Do you mean the lightbulb icons in the forums homepage? There have been comments that people are bypassing the forums homepage and going straight to the DIY forum. I put up the Hot Topics Box to make sure non-DIY-forum posts would get more exposure.

In fact, this thread should be in the Techno Babble forum. I am posting it here b/c otherwise there wouldn't be many replies. I am thinking of adding more threads to the Hot Topics Box, so they remain in view longer as the list scrolls down.

I don't miss "title text content." I also go directly to the DIY forum, but don't need the "hot topic" section because I scan the various threads for new threads or new postings.

It has been slow lately.

What is "title text"? If it's the text that pops up when you mouse over a thread title, no I won't miss it, it's annoying.
