Just updated the Alien DAC (finally) entry and added Mini 3 v2 project development. Have I missed anything? I haven't checked in for a while.

Hi JCD, the σ11 PSU is no longer "coming soon". It's available now (and has been for some time).

You might also add the Millett Hybrid MAX:

www.diyforums.org/MAX

There are over 400 boards on order that should arrive to users starting at the end of July. So, pretty soon there may be a lot of them around.

How does one get a hold of those boards or sign up for them?

The Group Buy was held here in the Headwize Marketplace earlier this month and also on Head-Fi. Cetoole has ordered a number of extra boards and has addressed this in his latest post in the Headwize Marketplace. Also, Jeff Rossel has ordered a number of boards and will be offering kits on his GlassJarAudio website.

I need to keep up better.. Thanks for the update.

Oh, I put a price tag of ~$45 -- is that reasonable?

I also upgrade the Mini3 v2 -- do you have an average cost of parts?

The MHM has been added.. I tagged it with a cost of $165, is that correct?

It's more like $70 with Hammond case.

oops.. does that mean I should be increasing the amount of the σ22? I currently have ~$80.

Thanks for the update.

The σ22 will cost more than the σ11, but since it's not designed for any specific case, the cost is more uncertain. Typically a larger transformer is also used with the σ22, increasing the cost too. I'd say probably ~$120 with a large dose of variability.

how complete are you trying to be?

http://www.raymondaudio.nl/

rod elliot's headphone amp page:
http://sound.westhost.com/projects-1a.htm

passlabs:
http://www.passdiy.com/legacy.htm

while not "projects", Walt's articles go beyond unity gain buffer in loop op amp circuits normally attributed to him as "Jung Multiloop"

I added a link to both the Elliot and Raymond Audiopages websites -- figured that would be good enough. I didn't see any headphone amps on the PassLabs page. Regular speaker amps, but no headphone amps.

As for Walt's page -- I think that should be included in another sticky of similar links.

A thought occurred to me -- this "project" I've kept up has, in some ways, evolved to include projects of many skill levels and goals, and included non-amp projects as well. That's all fine. One area that never really blossomed was the "grading" idea. I thought maybe we could replace that real estate with a "difficulty level" for each project. That way, whenever a new member asks the inevitable "what's a good project for a noob", we can simply reference this list.

Anyway, thought I'd throw it out there and see what folks think. If the idea seems like a good one, I'm hoping our more experienced members might be able to give the projects a grade == maybe a 1-10? or Beginner, Intermediate, Expert?

Thanks.

It's a great idea, but 1-10 may be too fine-grained. 1-5 is probably much more useful.
