Search Tips
The examples below are shown bolded for clarity only.
- The search engine applies the query to each post in a thread and to the thread's title. Search results can display as a thread view or a post view, in reverse chronological order. The post view lists individual posts matching the query. The thread view lists threads containing the matching posts. A thread or post within the thread will satisfy the Time Period criteria if the time-stamp of the last post in the thread occurs between the start date and end date.
- Searches typically will run faster if the query has -
- A shorter time period. Searches over a period of 10 days will be faster
than over a period of 360 days.
- Fewer and specific search terms. The query Grado will run faster than Grado
Sennheiser, but the second query will return more relevant results. Avoid common words, such as the, except in phrases.
- An author search (returns very specific results). Enter the forum
username of the poster.
- The search engine will find posts that have all of the search words or
phrases in a query.
- Ex: to find posts discussing Sennheiser AND Grado headphones, try
the query Sennheiser Grado.
- Ex: to find posts discussing the Sennheiser HD600 AND Grado SR225
headphones, try the query HD600 SR225.
- When searching for a phrase or common expression, put the phrase between
double quote marks.
- Ex: to find posts discussing Dolby Headphone, try the query "dolby
headphone".
- The search engine supports case-insensitive, partial word searches, which
are useful when posters may have varied spelling.
- Ex: to find posts about the Sony MDR-V700DJ headphones, try the
search word, try searching for 700dj.
- Ex: to find posts about beyerdynamic, try the search word
beyer.
- To prevent a partial word search, add a space to the beginning and/or end
of the search word and put it between double quote marks.
- Ex: to find posts with the word ear, but excluding earpad, hear
etc, try the search word " ear ".
